Calgary Gets It’s New Asian Mall

By March next year, Alberta will be proud host of a unique Asian-style mall in the Calgary region. The plan for the mall is to have 500 retail places and most of the stores are already sold out. The concept implies, owners buying the shopping space, not renting it. Management of The Torgan Group, responsible for the project together with MPI Property Group, claim this will be unique and useful concept for small investors. They also stated their target groups were not big chains, but family people oriented to create their own little business, owning a store in this shopping centre.

The New Horizon Mall will be 320,000 square feet construction on two floors, located directly across from CrossIron Mills in Rocky View County.

The mall will have the main floor and the second level. On the main floor, stores will range from 285 square feet to 855 square feet and are priced between $169,000 and $700,000. The developers announce modern displays showcasing the offers all around the centre at more than one thousand screens. At the same floor, the main stage will be built as a central part for hosting numerous events during the year, including cultural events, holiday celebrations and fashion shows.

The second level will host more than 26 shopping units, with the most interesting detail in the mall – a traditional Chinese stage. This stage will be used as a cultural venue throughout the year.

As for the parking, future visitors should not be worried, since the total amount of underground parking stalls is 350.

Retail experts believe The New Horizon Mall has all the preconditions for success, most of all due to it’s excellent location.

The Torgan Group was founded in the early 80's by Eli Swirsky and Sam Cohen. Torgan quickly established itself in the forefront of commercial real estate in the Greater Toronto Area and other parts of Ontario. Torgan has been involved in the development, ownership and management of over 70 commercial projects totalling over 3.5 million square feet.

The company also constructed the Pacific Mall in Markham, Ontario known as the largest Chinese mall in the western world and a recognized tourist destination.
