Friendly knowledgeable and very helpful the east Indian lady was just wonderful to deal with . She was helpful kind and courteous.

My partner and I were celebrating our 4 year anniversary, and as we have been looking to purchase our engagement rings (as well, we've had exceptional experience at People's other locations in the past), we were excited to stop by Tsawwassen Mills Peoples Jewellers. When we arrived, we were looked up and down very obviously and then asked if we required assistance. We both smiled and said yes, we were looking for engagement rings, and that was met with a glare and silence. I expressed that we were looking to get engaged over the next month, and the jeweler looked us up and down once more before asking us "for whom (we are a female couple)?". It was immediately an uncomfortable interaction. We said for both of us, but we wanted to focus on my ring first. After bringing us over to the engagement ring section, I requested to look at pear and oval shaped rings in yellow gold, and she ignored me completely and started pulling out round stones while asking where we lived. I was taken aback, let her know we lived in the city (Vancouver) and then reminded her I was looking for a different shape then what she was showing me. She then asked who was buying the ring, again completely ignoring my request to look at other designs. We decided, since we weren't being shown what we asked for and were being looked at like we had 10 heads, to leave after the third request to see a pear or oval shape. I'm not sure if it's because we are a female couple, or if it was because we looked young due to the fact that I'm only 4'10 and a youthful looking 25 year-old, but we have never received such poor service and the complete feeling of discrimination on the basis of age and/or sexuality in the Lower Mainland as we did that day. We both left feeling awful and hope that no one else experiences anything like that again. It's too bad too, because we have received two rings from the Richmond Centre location and have experienced incredible service there each time. We will not be returning to Tsawwassen Mills Peoples, and hope that other young/gay couples are not treated in such way when entering this location.
