Mr. Sub - North Bay, Ontario P1B 2H3 (Northgate Shopping Centre)

Sunday February 4th 2018 we visited our daughter at Nipissing University in North Bay. We purchased 3 subs and 3 drinks, and were not given a receipt. Thankfully my husband checks his credit invoice, as we were charged 124$. When we tried to follow up personally with the owner and manager, we were made to feel like criminals. From the start she told us she needed more proof of our purchase, and needed an email from Capital One proving we actually purchased them at her location. Capital one told my husband they had no such proof of location of purchase, and wondered what her problem was..could she not follow up and try to resolve our issue. When we tried to explain this, she yelled at us and told us we were not listening, that this was ridiculous, and she still needed more proof than our credit card statement. As two teachers who like to believe that most people in this world are honest and kind, we were both completely humiliated by this woman and her insinuation that we would be trying to rip her off. We tried to no avail to politely explain that ultimately we just needed to not be paying 124$ for our sandwiches, and we needed her help to rectify the problem. We were told very rudely 'Do you know how many boxes of receipts I will need to go through ..?! And then..' I will not start that process until I have proof of your purchase at this location!" Whatever happened to the customer comes first. We will never return to this Mr Sub. Although we were upset with the overcharge..we were more concerned with our mistreatment and suggestion that we were being dishonest. I try to teach the importance of courage and kindness every day to my grade one students, and find it very sad that this mistreatment of persons exists.
