Self serve not great! | by Susan on Sep 07, 2021
I was at the Newmarket Food Basics Sunday of labour day weekend. There was one cash line open and the newself serve was open. This is my first experience at this location. It was not pleasant. I had several groceries and unfortunately was at a very small self serve area. I had no room to put my groceries and then bag them myself. I needed help several times. The service line was 20 deep. Crazy!

Going to the dogs | by George Formby on Jan 07, 2019
I find that lately it is becoming harder and harder to find "Made or produced in Canada" products in the store. Everything seems to be coming from either the US south America. This seems to be a big draw for immigrants and other foreigners but what about we Canadians who have lived and shopped in Canadian stores all of our lives? Are we supposed to change our diets to foreign foods? Also why is it so hard to find things on shelves on a Monday.
Extremely rude cashier | by Sheila on Dec 06, 2018
I was at the Food Basics store on Innes Road in Orleans, Ontario this morning, December 6th, 2018. I was buying the butter that was on sale. I realize the limit was 4 pounds , but my daughter who loves to bake, could not come to the store because she was out of town on business, and she asked me to purchase 4 lbs for her. I purchased mine, placed them in my car, and returned to the store to purchase the 4 lbs for my daughter. This cashier, I believe a middle eastern lady, probably in the 50 year old range began to yell in front of all the clients and pointed her finger at me saying it was my 3rd time going through the cash with butter. I as very surprised and humiliated by her rudeness, and her lack of respect for a store customer. This is unacceptable behaviour, I was not stealing, I was purchasing, there is a very big difference.I believe she should receive training in how to show respect to you clients. She is a very rude, and disrespectful employee.
