I booked an appointment for colour and highlight with Niomi at Tonyc Salon in Scarborough Town Centre on June 25, 2016 at 12:45 pm. During consultation, prior to colouring, I explained to Niomi that I did not want my hair to look orange in anyway and that I was going for a more ashy undertone. Niomi and I agreed that she will bleach my hair and do a technique called balayage followed by a toner to neutralize any orange and red tones. Niomi had recommended trimming my hair after colouring to get rid of any dry ends. Initially, I was reluctant to have Niomi cut my hair and I specifically told her that I do not want to lose any length off my hair, so I do not want any trimming or haircut just of yet, besides I was not willing to spend extra money. She said to me, "I will trim just a little bit on the ends (1inch), after coloring the bleach makes your hair dry, DON'T WORRY, I WON'T CHARGE YOU. I do not want you to have a nice hair colour then have the ends of your hair look so dry. It won't look good. " Since she told me it was free, I agreed to her trimming my hair only because it would give me a finished look and because she said it would be only 1 inch. In the end, I was charged $175 before tax, the manager was not around and Niomi told me to call her if I didn't like it or needed fixing. I left the salon right after because I was running late for work and the same day I called Niomi and told her that the color was orange and that she had cut off 3 inches of my hair, she then went on to tell me that the toner would fade and as for the hair cut it only looked short because my hair is naturally curly, she told me to go home style and straighten my hair and if i still wasn't happy to give her a call back, The next day I called the salon and spoke to the manager. I told her I did not like the colour of my hair, that it was too orange, and it was definitely not the colour I asked for. I wanted an ashy blonde balayage . She explained she could book an appointment for me to go back for a redo or offer a store credit but that she couldn't offer or do anything about the length of my hair. I later explained that I was not comfortable with the idea of some else handling my hair from their salon because of my previous experience and Niomi's lack of knowledge of basic measurement, it literally cost me my hair that I would just like a refund so that I can go get extensions and also somewhere to fix the damage they have officially done. I told her that I could not and will not refer anyone to Tonyc salon because it had been such a terrible experience for me. I left the salon furious.
