I needed winter tires put on, and all the local garages were booked up for a week. When I made my first-ever visit to Jiffy Lube (Dartmouth Crossing), I was first up. Tires changed, car wouldn't start. Needed a new battery, they said. They just happened to have stacks of batteries sitting by the car. $125 plus $18 disposal fee. I took the "old" battery away for testing. It was (as I suspected) still relatively new. It charged at 97% capacity. When I complained later that the battery change was unnecessary, I was offered an $18 credit on future service. I declined. Moral of the story: Buyer beware. Jiffy Lube is an up-seller.
