I went on Friday February 15 to the Scotia Square in Halifax to have my taxes done. I asked how much it would be because I am a senior and funds are limited. Someone took a look at my OAP and CPP slips and said that I would get a refund and the fee would be taken out of my refund. I asked 3 more times because I just wanted to make sure and I got the same answer. I don't have any deductions, and expenses. I just have my OAP and CPP slips. The person did them and said that I owed them $200.00 because I wasn't getting a tax refund. She could not explain to me why. Her English was very poor. How the heck can you charge $200.00 for doing a simple return after telling me I would definitely get a tax refund. Why am I not getting a tax refund. Anyway, that was my last $200.00. I was going to buy food and pay bills so now I can't. I would not have even agreed to having my taxes done if I had known this. I think this was a horrible way to treat a senior. I won't be going back to H & R Block.
